WE88 × MADOU × YUNA
白蛇传之有舍有得 — A Chinese New Year Short Film by WE88 x MaDou
A Modern Retelling of the Legend of the White Snake
For Chinese New Year, WE88 teamed up with MaDou Media (麻豆传媒) and starring Yuna to reimagine the classic Legend of the White Snake as “白蛇传之有舍有得” — a tender, festive story about a kind-hearted young man, the spirit he saves, and the bond that follows.
Blending festive tradition with heartfelt modern storytelling, the short film quickly became one of WE88’s most-shared Chinese New Year releases, with a playful nod to WE88’s own Year of the Snake celebrations woven throughout.
A Story About 舍得 — Letting Go to Gain
At its heart, the film is a meditation on 舍得 (she de) — the idea that every choice means giving something up to gain something greater. One small act of kindness sets off a chain of events that changes a life, a heart, and ultimately, what matters most.
WE88 appears naturally within the story’s Chinese New Year moments, echoing the brand’s own Everyone Can Win spirit without ever overshadowing the romance at the film’s center.
“有舍，才有得 — sometimes the best arrangement is the one you never expected.”
A Bittersweet Chinese New Year Ending
The film closes on the mountain where its two leads first met, with a quiet promise to return when the Year of the Snake comes again — set to a gentle closing song and a message that not every choice needs closure, and that’s exactly what makes it beautiful.
